One of Amazon’s major digital-distribution departments is the growing ‘Amazon Instant Video’ service. The latest projects to be announced is ‘Zombieland’. This marks the seventh series planned for a possible inclusion on Amazon Instant.
The original film became a quick favorite of zombie fans when it released in 2009, now Amazon wants to turn those movie-goers into subscribers. This is all part of Amazon’s new pilot season, which will launch new series across multiple genres in hopes of creating original content for Amazon Instant. Zombieland will launch for free but will only be available on Amazon Instant (using the U.K. streaming service Lovefilm) and if it is successful will become part of the Amazon Prime line-up.
Creating original content has become the new direction for almost all video-streaming services. Netflix members have ‘House of Cards’ staring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. The Zombieland series won’t be too far off from the film, the pilot was made with the original creative team, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and producer Gavin Polone. The main cast of four survivors will include Kirk Ward, Maiara Walsh, Tyler Ross and Izabela Vidovic.
