Over the past few hours, reports are pouring in from Microsoft email account users on social media sites. The reports indicate that both Hotmail and Outlook users are unable to access their emails.
The outages and error messages seem to indicate that the service has been intermittent since early this afternoon, that is when the disruptions began to first appear online. The official Microsoft service alert page issued a warning for service issues shortly after 5:30pm EST. The following messages were posted regarding Hotmail accounts: “We’re having a problem accessing email. You might not be able to see all your email messages. We’re working to restore service right now”. That message was posted on March 12, at 5:35 PM. An update was posted later that night stating “We’re still working on the problem and will provide an update”. That update was posted on March 13 at 1:12 AM. Followed by “We apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience”.
Users having difficulty with their email clients are encouraged to check on the official service page for updates on the current situation. You can also follow the official Microsoft Support Twitter account for updates on the situation.
