Call of Duty Black Ops 2 to receive microtransaction system, Nuketown 2025 goes free
The hit 2012 title ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’ will get a new update for the Xbox 360. The update will bring ‘microtransactions’ to the game, allowing users to instantly get small perks and extras.
The microtransactions will bring ‘Micro Items’, that is the official term used by Activision, who made the announcement on the official blog earlier today. The publisher stated that the system will allow “little luxuries” for consumers, and that it will not cause any inbalance in the game.
Dan Amrich, the social media manager for Activision stated the following on the official blog post, “This content contains either personal customizations or nice little luxuries that I’ve seen players request; none of them affect gameplay, but they are small, specific ways to enhance your online experience. Full information will be available at callofduty.com tomorrow, but here’s a snapshot of what will be offered starting later this week”.
The new system will allow person customizations, weapon-pack themes and other skins and options for players to use. Another key installment is the addition of ‘Nuketown Zombies’, now available for purchase on its own. The very popular pre-order map ‘Nuketown 2025’ will be free for all users.
The micro-items will start rolling out on the Xbox 360 later this week. No other platforms were detailed at this time.
