Google Maps for iOS receives new update, new features

 
Google Maps made a triumphant return to iOS devices after Apple Maps became the default map application. The most recent update adds a few new features for users. Here are the details.
 
The new update will bring users to version 1.1 and the the new features that are added makes it easier to search for locations and find contact addresses. With the update users can now search through Google Contacts. Signing in to the application will allow users to access saved addresses that will automatically show up when you search for friends and family by name. This will make it much easier to find directions to or from common points of interests on your device.
 
The new search function will work using popular categories (restaurants, bars, cafes, gas stations) and then find local locations based on those keywords. The features are available stating today after users update their Google Maps application.
