Focus Features sets a date for ‘Insidious Chapter 3′ in April Sarah Fox May 8, 2014 Film Horror fans can look forward to the next installment of the popular ‘Insidious’ franchise to premiere in April 2015, the studio confirmed earlier this week that the film will be ready by spring of next year. The exact date for the U.S. premiere in theaters will be April 3, 2015, should casting and production go on as scheduled. The horror-franchise is one of the most lucrative operations that Focus has to offer, operating on a modest budget and generating over $250 million dollars in gross income with just two films under its belt, the third project promises a large return for the popular studio. Behind the project are Focus Films of course, Entertainment One, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and Blumhouse Productions, all of which are set to bring a new chapter to the dark world of the Insidious storyline. The company’s also confirmed that Leigh Whannell, the writer of the first two chapters, will also direct the new film and will write the new script. Should you live outside of the U.S., eOne will be the distributor for Spain, Canada and the United Kingdom, while Sony will tackle distribution throughout the world. Blumhouse Productions, Oren Peli and the previous director of ‘Insidious 1′ and ‘Insidious 2′ James Wan, are attached to produce. Taking the executive producer roles are Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Peter Schlessel, Lia Buman and Xavier Marchand. The previous films shot with the same cast, that cast included Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Ty Simpkins and Barbara Hershey but there was no confirmation if all of them, or any of them, would be returning for the third installment. A new cast could be part of the new director’s vision for the series, fans will just have to wait a few more weeks before the casting announcements are finalized. The film is scheduled to begin shooting in June.
